Students at Hartman

Bird Box Program Launch and Ribbon-cutting

Students across Aurora and surrounding area are documenting the reproduction of birds in their school yards. Mayor Phyllis Morris officially launched Project Nest Box – School Nest Watch Program at Hartman Public School and cut the ribbon for the official opening of Hartman Public School’s outdoor classroom. Bi-weekly, the boxes are opened and the students record the changes by completing scientific forms which document the adult birds, nest stage, number of eggs, hatchlings and fledglings. Observations are reported online to Bird Studies Canada’s Nest Watch database where statistics provide an overall picture of the health of the environment across Canada.
