Businesses Who Care Portait Exhibit

It was an exciting time last month for our very own Karen Merk, when she launched the beginning of a photo exhibit that celebrated business people in our community who reach beyond their busy careers to give to others. 'Businesses Who Care: Portraits of Giving' opened with a charity reception at Aurora’s new Culture Centre and 100% of ticket sales were given to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. This exhibit, which runs at the Aurora Cultural Centre until the end of July will travel to Newmarket’s Municipal building in October and will be featured for the month of November at the Richmond Hill Centre for the Performing Arts. This unique presentation is the brainchild of Karen. Karen’s work photographing events over the past two years opened her eyes to the many wonderful business people who go beyond their 9-5 jobs to significantly contribute to local charities and their community. Karen invited local writer, Heather Anne Lambert, to write short bios for each of the people being honoured. Merk Photography would like to extend a warm thank you to the event sponsors, Brian McCartney from The Law Insurance Brokers, and Stewart McLaren from Almac Industrial Systems and a big thank you to Jonathan's Restaurant for catering and John Lemme for his amazing musical talent! Karen is accepting nominations for next year so please email her at karenm@merkphotography.com
