The Aurora Santa Claus Parade
Everyone was in the holiday spirit at the Aurora Santa Claus Parade. It was a great time to celebrate the holiday season with friends, family, dynamic floats, live entertainment, marching bands, hot chocolate, cookies, and who could forget - Santa Claus himself! Last year, the event was well attended with over 40,000 participants and I am almost certain Aurora surpassed that number this year. School clubs, entertainment groups and marching bands flooded the street, relishing in the excitement of the holiday season. Eight professional marching bands from across the Region created a festive, musical atmosphere for all to enjoy. Residents and participants were encouraged to visit the many restaurants and cafes that operate along the parade route for dinner, snacks or some hot chocolate to keep warm. There were prizes awarded in nine different categories such as best commercial float, best musical float, best decorated float, best original theme and more. A big thank you to this year’s Santa Claus Parade corporate sponsors: Bell, Aurora Home Hardware, Cineplex Odeon, HS Financial Services Inc. and Power Stream. Residents were also able to watch the parade live on Rogers Cable 10 if they were unable to attend. Another successful year indeed. See you next year!
